1. Mike Elko, Duke head coach

Mike Elko is going to be mentioned a lot when it comes to the Arkansas job if Sam Pittman is fired and it’s because he knows the SEC and he’s having some serious success as head coach.

Elko was the Texas A&M defensive coordinator under Jimbo Fisher from 2018-2021 and he was so highly regarded during his time that he was offered the Duke head coaching job prior to the 2022 season and he’s had immediate success.

In his first year with the Blue Devils, he finished 9-4 and in his second year, the Blue Devils are already bowl eligible which just doesn’t happen a ton in Durham.

Having success at Duke should be enough to convince Arkansas fans that he’d be a good fit and he’s recruited at a high level at an SEC school before taking the Blue Devils job.

Arkansas may have to fight off the likes of Texas A&M and Michigan State for Elko, though.
