2. Beanie Bishop Jr. gets a pick-six

Beanie Bishop Jr., the Minnesota transfer, has been special this season for the Mountaineers. He has provided a bit of a shot in the arm to a struggling WVU secondary of recent memory. He is among the nation’s leaders in interceptions with four and is No. 1 in the nation in passes defended with 19.

The backend of the West Virginia defense has been fortunate to have the services of Bishop Jr. leading the way. The Mountaineer defense had just four interceptions as a team last season. He has by far been the best transfer portal addition that WVU has showcased this season.

Cincinnati quarterback Emory Jones has thrown 10 interceptions in the 2023 campaign. He has thrown 28 picks throughout his career which started at Florida way back in 2018. With these numbers for Jones, you have to like the chances of Beanie securing an interception and maybe taking it the distance for the first time this season and the second time in his career.

Like Jones, Bishop’s collegiate career began back in 2018. As a Western Kentucky Hilltopper, his first and only interception returned for a touchdown came in 2021 against Middle Tennessee.
