On Saturday afternoon, West Virginia football defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats by a score of 42-21. The Mountaineers led 42-7 at one point and really dominated the game from start to finish.

WVU mproves to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

It was a great day at Milan Puskar Stadium in the final home game of the season for the Mountaineers. This team will finish their regular season on the road at Baylor next Saturday.

Here are three takeaways from WVU’s big win over conference newcomer, Cincinnati.

1. WVU is not even remotely close to being the worst team in the Big 12

Yes, we knew this already. However, this point cannot be stressed enough as just a few short months ago WVU was picked to finish 14th out of 14 teams in the Big 12 preseason poll. They have now won five conference games, three of which have been victories by two possessions or more.

The struggling Baylor Bears now stand between West Virginia and a six-win season in Big 12 play.
