College Football Week 12 Loser: Lincoln Riley

Was there a bigger loser in College Football Week 12 than USC head coach Lincoln Riley?

There have been reports that Chip Kelly was going to get fired after the USC game. Yet, the Bruins rolled and Dan Mullen offered some commentary that was quite poignant.

Mullen does make a good point. USC football was expected to compete for a Pac-12 championship at a minimum. The Trojans had the returning Heisman Trophy winner and were a win away from reaching the playoff a season ago.

However, this season has been nothing short of a disaster for USC. It’s not like the Trojans have just been beaten — four of their five losses have been two-score games including an 18-point loss at the hands of a team about to fire its head coach.

So far, USC football hasn’t won a conference title under Riley and with Williams leaving, you wonder if that will happen anytime soon.

Maybe Mullen had a point.
