Mike Elko is one name that has been connected to the Texas A&M football head coaching job and according to a new report, he’s likely staying at Duke.

The head coaching searches of Texas A&M football and other programs should start heating up very soon.

This week is the end of the college football regular season, which makes any coach who doesn’t have a team in the College Football Playoff fair game.

There’s a reason that Texas A&M football and other programs acted when they did. The earlier the better in the race for a new head coach.

We have talked about some head-coaching candidates that would make sense for Texas A&M football. We have also talked about some that the Aggies should avoid.

Former Aggies defensive coordinator and current Duke head coach, Mike Elko is one that made my original list of top-five candidates for A&M.

Elko might not be the press-conference-winning hire that Aggies fans want, but that was what they got with Jimbo Fisher and they never won much outside of that press conference, unless you count the recruiting title of 2022.

There are rumors everywhere about who the next head coach could be. Some are even suggesting Ryan Day of Ohio State, but again, that’s just a rumor.

One head coach who won’t be leaving his current team for Texas A&M though, according to a new report from 247 Sports, is Elko, who is going to stay at Duke. This is according to Duke Insider Adam Rowe.

Rowe said believed that Elko would remain in Durham next season. You never know 100 percent for sure, unless a new contract is signed I guess, but for now, it seems like Elko won’t be the Aggies’ new head coach.
