The Game, it’s just two simple words, but it’s a pair that carries so much meaning.  The term represents college football at its finest.  It means a history of Heisman-caliber swag from performers such as Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Eddie George, and of course Archie Griffin, amongst others.  It means a battle for B10 East supremacy.  It means hatred between two bordering midwestern swing states.  The Game means Ohio State versus Michigan, and the 119th edition of the rivalry kicks off live from Ann Arbor tomorrow on FOX’s Big Noon Saturday!

As such, here are three bold predictions for the Big House’s unwelcomed visitors, THE Ohio State University.

Marvin Harrison Jr. to eclipse 100 receiving yards

Tomorrow we’ll witness what happens when an unstoppable force (Marvin Harrison Jr.) meets an immovable object (Michigan’s defense).  Without question, Harrison Jr. is the nation’s top wide receiver, heck many believe he’s the country’s best player regardless of position.  The blue-blooded flanker from Philadelphia ranks in the top 10 nationally in both receiving yards (1,093) and receiving touchdowns (13).  Thanks to his prototypical frame (6’4” / 205 lbs), Harrison Jr. is a speedy, yet silky smooth, pass catcher who can highpoint the football with maximum effect.

Conversely, Michigan’s defense has been rock solid this season.  According to Team Rankings, the unit ranks first in the FBS in scoring defense, allowing a meager 9 points per game.  In addition, through 11 games thus far, Jesse Minter’s side hasn’t allowed a single opposing player to reach triple digits in receiving yards.

Yet, during this perfect storm of extremes, lightning will strike—in the form of OSU’s spark plug.  I believe that, true to his nickname, Maserati Marv’s infinite torque will simply overpower the Wolverines downfield defense, and in turn the soon-to-be Biletnikoff Award winner will eclipse the 100 receiving yard mark.
