After shockingly losing to Mississippi State at home in last year’s Egg Bowl, Ole Miss football got some revenge in an ugly game, beating the Bulldogs 17-7 in Starkville.

The win improves Ole Miss to 10-2 on the year and the Rebels are in a perfect spot to earn a New Year’s Six bowl for the second time in three years.

This is a program on the rise.

What’d we learn from the 2023 Egg Bowl?

3. Jaxson Dart is embracing this rivalry

After last year’s surprising loss to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, Jaxson Dart made a promise: he would never lose another Egg Bowl again.

Well, on Thursday, he kept that promise.

While he didn’t have his best game, throwing the ball 26 times for just under 100 yards, he showed toughness all game long and put the Rebels in the best position to win. And even better, he was vocal throughout the game and was really leaning into the rivalry.

Dart is the perfect quarterback to lead Ole Miss and he’s really embracing the rivalry which is good news for the Rebels because he’ll be back next year.
