Big 12 Football Power Rankings After Week 13
By Erika Brown
Welcome to the final Big 12 football power rankings of the regualr season. We made it folks, and now we’re looking ahead to Saturday for the Big 12 Championship game.
This season has been a strange one for Big 12 football. While one team playing for the Championship game on December 2nd was the preseason favorite to win the conference, the other team was projected to be in the bottom half of the conference. And yet, here we are.
The Texas Longhorns (11-1) will face off against the Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-3) in a game not many expected or predicted. The Longhorns rallied through some tough games, and came out with the win in all but one. They perservered through injuries, including one that sat their starting quarterback for a couple of games.
Oklahoma State meanwhile has been on a roller coaster of a season. They’ve suffered some losses that were unexpected, and won games they probably shoulnd’t have won. But the Cowboys are here and they made it to the Championship.
Now, let’s see how the rest of the Big 12 football teams fared for the last Power Rankings of the season.
14. Cincinnati (3-9, 1-8 conference)
Cincinnati has stayed at number 14 for the majority of the year. The Bearcats just weren’t prepared enough, especially once the season rolled into the Big 12 conference play. They didn’t play well against Kansas, and their only wins on the season come against two in the preseason and a Houston team that only has 4 total wins. Cincinnati won’t be playing for a bowl game this year, but they look toward 2024 to get the team right where they need to be.
