13. Baylor (3-9, 2-7 conference)

Baylor fought a hard game. What saved their game wasn’t their offense as a whole, but mainly because of running back Richard Reese, who returned two kicks for touchdowns. The Bears didn’t have much to fight for, with their season easily over. With the head coaching position possibly being at risk, Baylor looks to rebound into a new Big 12 conference in 2024.

12. Houston (4-8, 2-7 conference)

Houston’s head coach Dana Holgorsen is out after losing the game to UCF. Houston has played some uninspiring football this year, with wins against West Virginia and Baylor in the conference. Quarterback  Donovan Smith threw for 161 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. They couldn’t get much going in the rushing game either. Houston now has the task of finding a new head coach, and looking forward to the 2024 season instead.

11. BYU (5-7, 2-7 conference)

BYU had the game against Oklahoma State in their hands. Unfortunately, they didn’t have an answer to stop the Cowboys offense and their late-game rally. The score was 24-6 rolling into halftime, and then BYU didn’t score again until the last second of regulation to kick the game-tying field goal to go into overtime. The team fell apart, and the game ended with a forced fumble recovery by the Cowboys. BYU was just short of a bowl game, but the Big 12 football newcomer has a bright future in the conference.

10. TCU (5-7, 3-6 conference)

The Horned Frogs had a strange 2023 season. They started the year ranked after a College Football Playoff berth in 2022 but never found that same kind of success. Unfortunately, they had to end their season playing the Oklahoma Sooners, who dominated early and never looked back. TCU just missed making a bowl game after a successful 2022 season and will look forward to getting back on track in 2024.
