Georgia football’s offense struggled mightily at times against Alabama in their SEC Championship Game loss to Alabama, and Bulldog fans are placing most of the blame on offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Things started well enough for the Bulldog offense. Their first drive of the game was an 8-play, 83-yard march that was capped off by a 17-yard Kendall Milton touchdown run.

It was all downhill from there.

Three of the next four Georgia drives ended in punts. Two of those punting drives were 3-and-outs, the other just a five-play possession. Through three quarters, the Bulldogs could only muster 10 points, and Alabama had them doubled up.

Bobo’s offense rallied late to put together a respectable box score, but it was too little, too late. Both of Georgia’s fourth quarter touchdowns came with the Bulldogs down double-digits.

Bulldog fans made their feelings on Bobo loud and clear:

One of the pivotal moments of the game came with 2:14 left in the third quarter. At Georgia’s own 17-yard line, Bobo called a reverse that resulted in a fumble, giving Alabama the ball at the Bulldog 11.

While the fatal flaw of the play was the execution by Beck, there is a massive risk in getting cute that close to your own end zone.

Mike Bobo has been criticized by Georgia fans since the first weekend of the season, and while the immense talent on the Bulldog offense has overwhelmed opponents throughout the season, Bobo’s playcalling flaws have shown up time and time again.

Those flaws are especially evident in a game like this. Beating Alabama is about more than talent, and Saturday’s result proved that. Bobo lost the schematic battle against the Tide, and it was the biggest factor in Georgia losing the war.
