Good non-conference opponents are nothing new for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but these four potential additions would make future schedules for Bama even better.

The Alabama football program, being the absolute dynasty most people consider them to be, has made a great effort of scheduling non-conference opponents in home and home series’ ever since current athletic director Greg Byrne’s arrival in 2017, albeit they didn’t shy away from good opponents back in the kickoff game era, with examples like USC, Wisconsin, and Michigan being the most notable ones.

Alabama had gotten a bit of infamy due to their non-conference scheduling methods before Byrne’s arrival, mostly consisting of kickoff games and some FCS and G5 opponents, but thanks to the former Arizona AD’s efforts in changing, we have gotten more diverse matchups, with the Tide’s first home and home series ever since the Penn State one in 2010-11 being the recently concluded 2022-23 Texas series, being the first one in the books after the Tide’s last kickoff game, a 44-16 defeat of the Miami Hurricanes in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game.

As it stands right now, Alabama football has scheduled 11 home and home series against current Power programs, notably, the Crimson Tide will play 2 Power Five programs every season between 2025 and 2034.

Among the most intriguing matchups among the confirmed ones, these include:

  • Ohio State (2027-28)
  • Florida State (2025-26)
  • Notre Dame (2029-30)
  • Oklahoma State (2028-29)
  • Arizona (2032-33)
  • Minnesota (2032-33)
  • Virginia Tech (2034-35)
  • Wisconsin (2024-25)
  • West Virginia (2026-27)
  • Boston College (2031 and 2034)
  • Georgia Tech (2030-31)

Albeit there’s some confirmation that the athletic department has been discussing currently unconfirmed matchups involving Power 5 programs aside from the already confirmed ones, of course, we have no idea who those programs are, but if Greg Byrne and his teammates can take into consideration requests for non-conference foes, today we’ll bring four potential non-conference matchups for the Crimson Tide to consider scheduling at some point, as long as they find potential openings in their future schedules.

These four programs we will list in this post would be exciting for Alabama football fans alike and could bring a  ton of attention once gameday comes, ranging from historic matchups, never-played-before matchups, or even some “revenge” games.

So let’s get started with some honorable mentions and then we get into the real deals, shall we?
