3 potential landing spots for Caleb Downs in the transfer portal

Caleb Downs has entered the transfer portal and seems like a good bet to wind up with Georgia football or Ohio State.

1. Georgia football

The Bulldogs are already the favorite to land Caleb Downs according to John Talty of 247 Sports. Things can always change quickly when it comes to transfer portal recruits -- or recruitments of any kind in college football -- but Georgia football has plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Not only is Downs from the state of Georgia, but he's reportedly intrigued by the idea of playing under Kirby Smart, and the new Co-defensive coordinator for Georgia football, Travaris Robinson, who coached the secondary at Alabama before taking a job with the Bulldogs this offseason.

The combination of Smart and Robinson would be hard to pass on, at least in my opinion for Downs, but NIL will be a factor too. Chris Hummer of 247 Sports reports that Downs "will get QB money" which shouldn't surprise anyone.

Caleb Downs is going to be a future first-round pick and whoever lands him is likely getting a two-time All-American. Georgia football is my pick, which would only make me feel even better about my way-too-early projection of the Bulldogs as national champions in the first 12-team playoff.
