The transfer portal has ushered in a new era of college football. USC football has been trending for the commitment of quarterback Will Howard, which has had a ripple effect.

Howard is expected to join USC football and according to reports, Malachi Nelson is expected to enter the transfer portal in a move that's definitely related.

Nelson only saw action in one game last season for USC football. So he'll have four years of eligibility and he was the No. 3 overall quarterback in the 2023 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. It's clear though that he wants to play.

Unless Malachi Nelson has an issue with Lincoln Riley, it seems like he wants to go somewhere he can play and here are five potential landing spots for the five-star quarterback.

Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies are a team that makes sense. Will Howard was thought to be favored to go to the Aggies after a recent visit but the crystal balls are favoring USC football at the moment.

Conner Weigman could be the biggest reason this doesn't happen. He's a former five-star quarterback in his own right and did show flashes at times last season with eight touchdowns compared to just two interceptions.

A new offensive coordinator could be exactly what Weigman needs to thrive. But if Nelson is up for a competition, this seems like a good fit, especially with the Aggies' NIL prowess.
