Every year, every college football team comes into the season with high expectations for themselves. Heck, even programs that went 2-10 the previous season believed they could win their conference this season. Georgia and Ohio State are staples in the Top 10, but for teams that college football fans don't pay attention to or even know exist, such as James Madison and Liberty, this season brought a lot of surprises.

Here is a list of college football's five biggest surprises.

1.) Colorado

Out of all the teams on the list, Colorado is the only one with a losing record. Regardless, this is a no-brainer because of Colorado's shock value, the number of viewers per game, and most of the country were up until 1 a.m. watching the University of Colorado football team. College football hadn't seen anything like the "Colorado Spectacle" since the USC had Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush days.

After the upset victory of #17-ranked TCU and starting the season 3-0, Colorado had already exceeded expectations. Celebrities were either attending or tweeting about their games, whether they were wins or losses. Although they finished the season on a massive losing streak, the year brought a lot of positives for the Deion Sanders-led team.
