Michigan football: Should we put a lot of stock in Jim Harbaugh hiring an agent?

What a year it's been for Michigan football and Jim Harbaugh.

In what should be a time of celebration, winning the Big Ten title for a third straight year and making yet another College Football Playoff appearance, Harbaugh continues to find himself in the center of controversy, fair or not.

Before, it was fair that he was scrutinized for the Connor Stallions controversy with sign stealing because, well, you just can't do that. And now, h'e sin the headlines because he has recently hired an agent that has deep NFL ties which could mean that he is looking at a potential return to the league.

Adam Schefter reported the news on Saturday.

While this seems like a huge development right before the Wolverines take the field against Alabama in the playoff, it's actually not as wild as it seems.

In fact, this was a move that was made weeks ago and Don Yee has been working on negotiations with Michigan on a contract extension, so the timing of this news doesn't quite add up. It's definitely something that isn't as controversial as it was made out to be on Saturday night when it "broke" on Twitter.

But it is interesting that his new agent has NFL ties like he does. He may have hired him for the option of returning to the NFL because that's kind of what everyone is expecting at this point,

Plus, Michigan is expected to have major 'no more NFL negotiations' in his new Michigan contract which I'm assuming will be vetoed by the new agent.

So is this hire a big deal? Not really, but it does make his potential NFL dreams that much more interesting. He could be back for another season in Ann Arbor, but I'd be shocked if that came without a third straight offseason NFL flirtation.
