2. Steve Angeli has a bright future

What a performance we saw from backup quarterback Steve Angeli who was thrust into action when Sam Hartman opted out of the bowl game. He was a star on Friday afternoon and looked like the best player on the field.

Angeli had a career performance against the Beavers who had a solid defense all season long under Trent Bray, but to be fair, he wasn't at the game as he decided to work on recruiting and other priorities rather than coach in the bowl as the team's next head coach. His defense wasn't great on Friday, giving up 40 points and well over 400 total yards.

But Angeli was the star of the show, passing for 232 yards and three touchdowns on 15-of-19 completions. He did all of this without a Doak Walker-caliber running back in Audric Estime behind him and some other weapons missing, too.

The future is bright for Angeli whether it's in South Bend or elsewhere. He earned this opportunity and will get a serious look this offseason as QB1.
