It was a relatively quiet transfer portal cycle for Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers, which may not be good news after a 10-3 season that felt disappointing, especially considering Jayden Daniels’ dominance. LSU lost 17 players, most notably Logan Diggs, the team’s leading non-Daniels rusher. Lance Heard, a 2023 five-star offensive tackle left for Tennessee, but most of the other losses were negligible.

Daniels will be nearly impossible to replace, but Vanderbilt transfer AJ Swann will provide QB depth behind Garrett Nussmeier. The production of wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. might be even tougher to replicate, but CJ Daniels from Liberty (55 catches for 1,067 yards and 10 TDs in 2023) and Zavion Thomas from Mississippi State (40 catches for 503 yards and one touchdown in 2023) will try.

Kelly only added six players, which may not be enough to fix a defense that was 108th in the country last year and replenish an offense that lost its four most productive players and a Heisman Trophy winner.
