Predictions for New Year's Six Bowl games, College Football Playoff
Dec. 30 Peach Bowl: No. 11 Ole Miss vs. Penn State (-4.5) 12 PM EST, ESPN
Another Big Ten-SEC matchup to kickoff the New Year's Six Bowl games on Saturday and this should be a good one. Penn State and Ole Miss were both the third wheel in their league this season, but both squads are good. Jaxson Dart had a stellar season and the Rebels still have Quinshon Judkins, who has rushed for over 100 yards in three of his past four games. Penn State has an elite defense and ranks third in college football in scoring. But Ole Miss isn't like most Big Ten teams. I'm also not sure Drew Allar will be able to take advantage of an average Rebels defense.
Prediction: Ole Miss 27, Penn State 21
Dec. 30 Orange Bowl: No. 5 Florida State vs. No. 6 Georgia (-20) 4 PM EST, ESPN
It's too bad that Florida State has had over a dozen players who have entered the transfer portal or opted out of the game. I understand it -- the game is pretty much meaningless. However, if Florida State had beaten Georgia with its backup quarterback and Alabama went on to win the College Football Playoff, wouldn't the Noies at least have an argument for the No. 1 ranking in the AP poll? I guess that wasn't enough motivation for Florida State. I'm not sure Georgia will be overly motivated to play in the Orange Bowl, but the Dawgs aren't losing two in a row and they'll win this going away.
Georgia 34, Florida State 7
Jan. 1 Fiesta Bowl: No. 8 Oregon (-16.5) vs. No. 23 Liberty 1 PM EST, ESPN
This is another New Year's Six bowl game that's not overly exciting to fans or maybe it's just me. Liberty will be motivated but they have played a soft schedule that will get exposed by the Ducks. Bo Nix will go out with a big game and the Ducks will easily cover the spread.
Prediction: Oregon 42, Liberty 17
