Game 9 - vs BYU

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

West Virginia followed up their 50-carry performance against UCF with 48 carries against BYU. As a team, WVU ran for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns en route to a 30-point victory over the BYU Cougars. This one was over by halftime as the Mountaineers came out of the locker room and punched BYU directly in the mouth. West Virginia had everything going their way and took a 27-0 lead into halftime.

Neal Brown was quoted postgame as calling this the team’s “most complete game.” He added that they were now “starting to hit their stride.” This was the second time in consecutive weeks that both CJ Donaldson and Jahiem White handed in a tremendous effort running the football. Each running back eclipsed the 100-yard mark. These backs proved to be too much for the BYU defense to handle.

Mountaineer Notables:

Garrett Greene - 12/24, 205 yards, 2 touchdowns

Jahiem White - 16 carries, 146 yards

CJ Donaldson Jr. - 14 carries, 102 yards, 2 touchdowns

Kole Taylor - 1 reception, 43 yards, 1 touchdown

Lee Kpogba - 8 tackles

Marcis Floyd - 7 tackles

Ben Cutter - 6 tackles, 1 sack

Beanie Bishop Jr. - 5 tackles, 5 passes defended

Final Score: WVU 37, BYU 7
