Game 2 - vs Duquesne

Lightning strikes three times

In a bit of a tune-up game against Duquesne of the FCS, West Virginia had to deal with another form of adversity, lightning. The weather in Morgantown and surrounding areas was bad on the night of September 9th. The game was delayed for nearly two hours in the early going of the second quarter. When the Mountaineers returned from the long delay, they found lighting in a bottle in the then-walk-on Hudson Clement. Hudson Clement exploded onto the scene in Morgantown on the way to a 3-touchdown performance at the wide receiver position. Hudson Clement was undoubtedly the story in this one, both during the game and after. Clement was awarded a scholarship in the locker room immediately following the game.

Though there were some concerns regarding the WVU secondary, Beanie Bishop Jr. picked up his first interception of the season. The soon-to-be All-American Bishop was just getting started. The Mountaineers took care of business and were now ready for the following Saturday and the Backyard Brawl.

Mountaineer Notables:

Hudson Clement - 5 receptions, 177 yards, 3 touchdowns

Jahiem White - 12 carries, 110 yards, 1 touchdown

Garrett Greene - 240 yards, 4 touchdowns

Final Score: West Virginia 56, Duquesne 17
