WVU Football: The latest on West Virginia’s transfer portal additions
Josh Minkins - DB - Louisville
Josh Minkins was the second commit out of the transfer portal. Minkins spent four seasons as a part of the Louisville football program and will look to make an impact in the WVU secondary with his one remaining season of eligibility. Minkins' best season with the Cardinals came in 2022 when he finished 5th on the team in tackles with 55.
Reid Carrico - LB - Ohio State
On December 19th, West Virginia picked up a verbal commitment from Ohio State transfer linebacker Reid Carrico. Carrico, who spent most of his time with the Buckeyes playing on special teams, will have 2 years of eligibility remaining. Out of high school, Carrico committed to Ohio State as a top 100 overall player in the country for the class of 2021. He was the 9th-ranked linebacker in the country. He also garnered interest from North Carolina State, Pitt, Marshall, and Indiana.
Ty French - LB - Gardner-Webb
FCS All-American Ty French has committed to play for the Mountaineers. During his time with Gardner-Webb, French put up impressive numbers from the defensive end/outside linebacker position. He has 239 career tackles, 34.5 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles. French will have one season of eligibility with the Mountaineers.
