They were also hoping quarterback Taysom Hill could become a Heisman Trophy contender.

Those plans all came unraveled Friday night. Not only were the 18th-ranked Cougars defeated by the Utah State Aggies 35-20 but they lost Taysom Hill to a lower leg fracture.

Trainers carted him to the locker room after fitting him with an air cast.Coach Bronco Mendenhall confirmed in postgame that Hill had sustained a lower leg fracture and will miss the next 3-4 months, as a result —- effectivelly ending his season. Hill will undergo immediate surgery at 7:30 a.m. MDT according to Mendenhall."

Hill completed eight-of-11 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown before the injury. He finishes the season by going 88-of-132 for 975 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 463 yards and eight touchdowns on 86 attempts.
