Mississippi State receiver De’Runnya Wilson arrested on drug charges

Mississippi State wide receiver De’Runnya Wilson was arrested on Friday night on drug charges.

Spring break has been nothing but bad new for Dan Mullen’s Mississippi State team with star quarterback and two teammates getting assaulted at a concert in Panama City, FL earlier in the week and now leading receiver De’Runnya Wilson getting arrested on drug charges.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, Wilson and four men were arrested late Friday night in Alabama after the car they were traveling in was pulled over for going 59 in a 45 mph zone. They were charged with possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia, River Falls Police Chief Greg Jackson said.

The rising junior was Prescott’s favorite target last year with a team-high 680 yards and nine touchdowns and with Jameon Lewis gone was expected to play an even bigger role in 2015.

Mississippi State spokesman told the Clarion-Ledger, “Mississippi State are aware of the matter. We are getting more details and will handle it appropriately.”

The Bulldogs begin spring practice on Wednesday where they’ll begin the first steps towards repeating the success they had in 2014 when they were ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history, won 10 games and played in the Orange Bowl.

Do you think Mullen should suspend Wilson for the season opener at Southern Miss on Sept. 5? Or do you think he’ll be disciplined in another way that won’t keep him off the field for a regular season game?

Let us know in the comment section below how you would handle the discipline if a player on your favorite team was arrested for pot.
