Watson tore his ACL in practice two weeks before the rivalry game against South Carolina in the regular season finale but still managed to play the game against the Gamecocks and snap the Tiger’s five-game losing streak in the Palmetto Bowl.

Swinney said his talented signal-caller is at 80 percent now and even took a shot at the rival Gamecocks in the process when he said, “He’s healthier than when he beat South Carolina,” according to ESPN’s David Hale.

Watson threw two short passes to fellow freshman Artavis Scott who did the heavy lifting and turned them into 53 and 70 yard touchdowns and finished the game 14-of-19 passing for 269 yards and added two rushing touchdowns.

With a healthy Watson under center, Clemson could be the team to beat in the ACC and that’s despite the turnover they’re experiencing on one of the nation’s best defenses from last year.

Watson did experience a few different injuries in his first season on campus, so he has to overcome the injury-prone label in his second season, but if he’s healthy for the entire season, they can certainly challenge Florida State for the ACC championship because Watson is that good.
