The Iowa Hawkeyes fans weren’t shy about trolling the Florida Gators during Monday afternoon’s Outback Bowl.

If you thought that your college did a great job of trolling opponents during sporting events, just wait until you check out what the Iowa Hawkeyes fans did on Monday.

Iowa had a tough matchup in the Outback Bowl on Monday, taking on a Florida Gators team with a talented defense. Despite the game being played in Tampa, Florida, the Hawkeyes fans showed up in full force to root for their team.

In the first quarter of Monday’s game, the Iowa fans decided to have a little fun by trolling the Gators. The fans began chanting the classic Florida State Seminoles war chant, and it was loud enough to get picked up by the ESPN broadcast. The Gators were dominated pretty handily by Florida State this year, losing 31-13.

Unfortunately for Hawkeyes fans, the chant wasn’t enough to get Iowa’s offense going in the first half. Iowa trailed 10-3 at halftime while racking up just 114 yards of total offense. The Gators even turned the ball over twice in the first half, but the Hawkeyes simply couldn’t capitalize on Florida’s mistakes.

Regardless of the outcome of Monday’s game, both teams should feel good about the future of their respective programs with eight-win seasons. Sure, they didn’t go to the College Football Playoff or anything, but eight-win seasons in the Big Ten and SEC is something to build on.

Hopefully Iowa fans can keep the trolling going in 2017 for all of their sports programs.
