6. Conference USA
The Conference USA is once again showing itself to be the best of college football’s non-power five conferences. Yes, even above the American and the Mountain West. North Texas’s romping of SMU should have shown that enough. Add in the fact that Western Kentucky, UTEP, and UT-San Antonio all came within a hair of some major Power Five upsets, and this conference has earned the respect it’s getting. It doesn’t even matter that the conference went 5-7 last week. It is still undefeated against other non-Power Five FBS conferences.
This isn’t too bad for a conference made up of a bunch of teams who were once members of the Sun Belt.
