Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 2

The John Mackovic Division

12: Colorado (1-1) Stockwatch: DOWN 1

Congratulations to the Buffalos for notching a rare road win at UMass on Saturday. The Buffs  defeated only three FBS opponents in the last two seasons, and had lost 29 of their previous 31 road games, so Saturday’s result had to feel good.

Unfortunately, for CU, UMASS is about as weak as competition gets. The Minutemen have only been an FBS program since joining the MAC 2012, and in that time have a record of 2-24. Prior to their game with Colorado, UMASS was 0-5 against opponents from the Big 5 leagues, losing the games by a combined score of 33-214.

On Saturday the Buffalos found themselves in a shootout with the Minutemen and only came out ahead by 3 points. The 38 points the Buffs allowed was the most UMASS has scored in against any opponent since joining the FBS.

An early win on the road is a nice step for the Colorado program, but after that struggle with the worst team in the MAC, it’s hard to imagine CU beating anyone in conference play.
