25. Duke Blue Devils: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated Kansas 41-3 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

Time to stop sleeping on the Duke Blue Devils. After a 41-3 win over the Kansas Jayhawks last weekend, they may not have played anybody yet, but they have certainly earned the right to be in the Top 25 after blowing out three teams and based on what they did last year.

24. Arkansas Razorbacks: 2-1 (0-1), Defeated Texas Tech 49-28 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

This may be controversial, but the Razorbacks have looked very good for two weeks in a row, and their only loss is to Auburn, which is nothing to be ashamed of. After a quality win against Texas Tech, they belong in the Top 25.

23. West Virginia Mountaineers: 2-1 (0-0), Defeated Maryland 40-37 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

West Virginia played Alabama close and beat a very experienced Maryland team in College Park. It now belongs in the Top 25 and has significantly increased its stock. Don’t sleep on this team with Clint Trickett at quarterback.

22. BYU Cougars: 3-0, Defeated Houston 33-25 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

The Cougars are not a team to be slept on right now. Houston alone wouldn’t be that impressive of a win, but the Texas blowout looks pretty good now after the Longhorns hung tough with UCLA. This could be independent contender No. 2.

21. Nebraska Cornhuskers: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated Fresno State 55-19 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

The Huskers looked a lot better on both sides of the ball against Fresno State after struggling with McNeese State the week before. As of right now, it appears that close game was a simple fluke, and they are about ready for Big Ten play.
