Saturday Blitz Top 25 Countdown Week 4

25. East Carolina Pirates: 3-1 (0-0), Defeated North Carolina 70-41 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

The East Carolina Pirates first made people question how good South Carolina is after the Pirates only lost to them by 10 points. Then they became a legitimate team the next week after upsetting Virginia Tech while South Carolina beat Georgia. After dropping 70 on North Carolina this week, they have proven they firmly belong in the Top 25 for right now.

24. Utah Utes: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated Michigan 26-10 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

The Utah Utes look like they’re finally on their way back to proving they belong with the Power Five after such an impressive win against Michigan on Saturday. Michigan may not be a great team, but the Utes deserve credit for blowing them out. Remember they were really close to being an 8 or 9-win team last year, so getting to 3-0 this year proves this team can play. The Pac 12 has to watch out.

23. Washington Huskies: 4-0 (0-0), Defeated Georgia State 45-14 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

The Washington Huskies may have looked terrible their first two games, but they have clearly gotten their rhythm back recently. After a blowout win against Illinois and repeating that against Georgia State, Chris Petersen’s first team is in a groove right now. That groove will be tested this week as Stanford comes to town.

22. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Virginia Tech 27-24 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

Georgia Tech is proving once again under Paul Johnson that it’s not going anywhere with that option offense. The Yellow Jackets stunned the Hokies on the road through the passing game in the fourth quarter, last Saturday, which was very unexpected. This team is more dangerous than we thought, and it’s time the college football world took notice.

21. Arizona Wildcats: 4-0 (0-0), Defeated California 49-45 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: NR

Something may be special about this Arizona team. As we begin to phase out margin of victory and only look at wins, we can’t ignore the Wildcats’ 4-0 record despite winning the last three games by 3, 7, and 4 points. And now, after this Hail Mary to beat Cal, they might be a team of destiny in what looks like an overrated Pac 12 south. Take notice Pac 12.
