Mack Brown will decide on future in December

Former Texas Longhorns’ head coach Mack Brown has only been out of coaching for a few months but may already be considering a comeback.

Now that June Jones has resigned at SMU, the Mustangs are reportedly “intrigued” by the potential opportunity to hire Brown.

“A wildcard name to keep an eye on with the SMU vacancy is former Texas coach Mack Brown, now an ESPN broadcaster,” Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports wrote. “Word is, some well-connected SMU brass are intrigued by Brown and think he might be tempted by the chance to coach again.

On twitter, a fan asked Brown about a potential return and Brown responded by saying he would wait until December to make a decision about his future.

Brown was the head coach at Tulane from 1985-1987, North Carolina from 1988-1997 and Texas from 1998-2013, is 244-122-1 and 13-8 in bowl games. He led the Longhorns to an upset victory over the USC Trojans in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game and appeared in the game again in 2010 but the were defeat by the Alabama Crimson Tide.
