Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 6

Arizona State Sun Devils at No. 16 USC Trojans

Line: USC by 12

The Arizona State Sun Devils got hit with a reality check last week against USC. Taylor Kelly was hurt, but that was obviously not the problem when the team lost 62-27. Now they have to pay a visit to USC, which is not the best way to regroup after such a tough loss. If Kelly doesn’t play, the key for the Sun Devils won’t change. It has to be D.J. Foster. And more D.J. Foster. And finally, a lot of D.J. Foster. Whomever is playing quarterback has to show mobility is well to add to a rushing attack that could give the Trojans trouble. USC is a team that has lots of questions stopping the run, evidenced by their loss to Boston College, and that’s the one edge Arizona State has to potentially pull off this upset on the road.

USC, meanwhile, needs to make sure it does what it did last week: score. And it needs to score a lot. In a rebound win against Arizona State, the Trojans showed great balance with Cody Kessler throwing for 261, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions and Javorius Allen and Justin Davis combining for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. That type of balance is going to be needed to keep Arizona State from making any kind of push for an upset. The Trojans need to stay on the field a while to keep the rush defense as fresh as possible in case Arizona State tries to exploit that. In order to do that, the offense has to repeat what it did last week and avoid any mistakes.

Prediction

USC will have control early with the home crowd on its side, and the Trojans will pick up a very solid victory by scoring lots of points. Arizona State’s rushing attack will keep this from being a terrible blowout, but this game won’t be keeping you on the edge of your seat either. USC gets the win.
