The Wildcats earned a blowout victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday and on Friday, they received a commitment from 3-Star cornerback Alonzo Mayo.
“Well, it was a no-brainer for me and my family,” Mayo said via Chris Emma of 24/7 Sports. “You get a top-notch education and can play football at the highest level. You can’t beat that. Plus, I’ve been close friends with (Northwestern 2015 commit) Jelani Roberts since we were kids, and with him already being committed, I didn’t hesitate to do the same. I love what Coach Fitz has done with the program, so it wasn’t a hard decision at all.”
The 5’10, 172-pound Alonzo Mayo is from Baltimore, Maryland and attends Gilman. He is ranked as the country’s 126th-best cornerback prospect. He chose the Wildcats over the Army Black Knights, Navy Midshipmen and Vanderbilt Commodores.
