Ranking Week 6 College Football Upsets

7. No. 12 Mississippi State Bulldogs Beat No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies 48-31

The Bulldogs solidified one thing with this win: they are a legitimate powerhouse with the right to be No. 1. After a huge win at LSU two weeks ago, they came back home for this game with Texas A&M and shocked the world by blowing the Aggies out. This is obviously a great team that we have to respect.

But the shock value can’t be too high. For starters, nobody knew what to expect going into this game. It featured two Heisman trophy candidates at quarterback who had very different styles: the drop-back passer in Kenny Hill and the mobile quarterback in Dak Prescott. It also featured to undefeated teams who belonged in the Top 10 with incredibly different styles.

So when Texas A&M traveled to Starkville, it was clear that anything could happen in this game. That’s why we are not as shocked by this upset as some of the others on this list. But the margin of victory was an incredible shocker. While we didn’t know what we’d expect, we certainly didn’t expect the Bulldogs to dominate from start to finish the way they did. All this did was solidify how good this team is, and with back to back quality wins, they can’t be ignored.
