Ranking Week 6 College Football Upsets

4. No. 25 TCU Horned Frogs Beat No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners 37-33

Two weeks ago, this wouldn’t have been a shocking upset. Trevor Knight was proving that he is an overrated quarterback, and the Sooners certainly had not been that impressive to that point. But that all changed when they found a running game with Samaje Perine. He should have been enough for us to be sure that this was an elite team.

How wrong we were! In shocking fashion, TCU managed to prove just how good their defense is under Gary Patterson despite giving up 461 yards of offense. They held Knight to 14 of 35 passing and forced 2 interceptions, and Perine was held to 85 yards rushing and only 3.5 yards per carry. Knight did manage 61 rushing yards and 309 passing yards, but he showed how inept he is over all, completing just 40 percent of his passes.

This upset is more shocking because of how good TCU just might be. Not only did they expose how overrated Knight is, but they also showed how good there offense is. Against a very good Oklahoma front seven, the Horned Frogs managed 469 yards of total offense and pulled off the 37-33 win despite 3 turnovers. That shows this team may not have just been lucky in its win on Saturday. It looked better coached and simply more talented. We have to vault them into the Big 12 elite status now.
