Floirida Gators’ head coach Will Muschamp sad Jeff Driskel was going to play regardless of Treon Harris’ status

More from Florida Gators

The Florida Gators lifted quarterback Jeff Driskel in favor of true freshman Treon Harris on Saturday. The Gators trailed the Tennessee Volunteers 9-0 entering the fourth and Jeff Driskel threw four interceptions. Treon Harris didn’t do much statistically but he helped provide the spark the Gators need to rally for a 10-9 win.

On Monday many expected Gators’ coach Will Muschamp to name Treon Harris the starter but instead, it was revealed that he was being investigated for sexual battery and would be suspended indefinitely, leaving the job to Jeff Driskel.

According to Muschamp, the plan was always to play Jeff Driskel when they Gators host the LSU Tigers on Saturday night.

“He was going to play in this game regardless of the situation and we expect him to play well,” Muschamp said of Driskel via The Orlando Sentinel..

As for Treon Harris? There is no change.

“I think our statement on Monday was self explanatory,” Muschamp said of Harris. “This was a serious charge. There has been no change in Treon’s status.”

The Gators and Tigers will kick-off from Gainsville, Florida at 7:30 pm EST on Saturday night and the game is on the SEC Network.
