Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

Yes, we had to give Georgia a bit of a jump. With no Todd Gurley, Hutson Mason struggling, and a trip to a ranked Missouri team on the slate, the Bulldogs put together their best game of the year. They obviously dominated on defense with all the turnovers they forced, but the offense was great as well. Doing that without their best player against a solid Missouri team gives them a second very impressive win, with Clemson being the first. It forces us to question how they ever lost to South Carolina.

The Bulldogs found a new superstar running back in freshman Nick Chubb. He replaced Gurley with no problem. They also realized that the defense can shut down anybody when it gets focused. And Mason can be reliable to make accurate passes when needed, even if he’s not great throwing down the field. We’ll find out a lot more about these guys very soon.

An improving Arkansas team is up next on the slate, and then Florida and Kentucky are on the schedule. None of those can be taken lightly. Then, Auburn comes to town in what will be a huge showdown. So the Dawgs have four straight games they can’t take lightly coming up.

But for now, they’re right back in the thick of the SEC and college football playoff race.
