RG3: Another Failed Big 12 Quarterback in the NFL

facebooktwitterreddit

It is time to start re-evaluating defenses in the Big 12. And it is also time to start re-evaluating the character of players coming out of there.

As you probably know from multiple reports, former Baylor Quarterback and current Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III got into it with a fan on Instagram after posting a video of himself singing Billie Jean. Here is their back and forth, and you can see the full report here.

"“This is why you will be cut after next year in Washington,” the commenter wrote. “Why you weren’t even mentioned as the future. You are a ‘QB’. Act like one.”“If giving back to the community and training for football at the same time is frowned upon…..then what would you say I do Sir? Not give back or Train? Honest Question,” Griffin wrote back. “Oh wait…and should I not enjoy a classic song with others who Love MJ? I’m just asking for your wisdom here.”"

Well, honestly, RG3 might have a point. But it doesn’t matter. He is so thin-skinned that he can’t handle one fan taking a shot at him, and it is another sign that he is destined to fail…like every other Big 12 quarterback recently.

Seriously, if you are drafting a quarterback, run as far away from this conference as possible. Of the Top 10 passing quarterbacks in the NFL this past year, at least two were from the Big Ten, Pac-12, ACC, and SEC each. Know how many were from the Big 12? Zero.

In fact, the best passer from the Big 12 was Ryan Tannehill, who played at Texas A&M, now an SEC school. Let’s all laugh at this guy being the best quarterback from the Big 12. Second? Well, if you want to count Andy Dalton since he went to TCU, fine. But he threw for less then 3,500 yards and had 19 touchdowns to 17 interceptions, and when he played at TCU, they were not in the Big 12.

So if you do take credit for him in the Big 12, then you can’t take credit for Tannehill. And that makes Dalton’s terrible numbers the best of any quarterback from a Big 12 school.

Guess who the best Big 12 passer is after that. Geno Smith.

This is a conference that breeds losers who have no intangibles at the position, and it has done that for the past 10 years. We are still trying to make Sam Bradford happen, and he’s not going to happen. He is officially a failure.

Vince Young in Tennessee speaks for itself.

Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy in Cleveland are two others.

And by the way, since we mentioned Bradford and want to stick to overhyped Oklahoma quarterbacks, where are Rhett Bomar, Josh Heupel, Paul Thompson, Jason White, and Landry Jones?

Going back to Texas with McCoy and Young, Chris Simms was probably the biggest bust of all.

Simply put, dating back to 2000, this conference has been an absolute joke when it comes to quarterbacks. There’s only one explanation: the defenses in the Big 12 are terrible.

This conference continually breeds offensive superstars in college with advanced spread offenses only to flame out in the NFL.

To be fair, these other guys were all good people who worked as hard as they could but just were not cut out for the league. RG3 has spent more time being a self-promoter than actually focusing on football, hence the reason he has lost so much respect. Being such a thin-skinned spoiled brat does not help.

But RG3 joined a long line of many NFL busts from the Big 12 at quarterback, and as a failure who stole the Heisman Trophy from Andrew Luck, he was only a factor in Art Briles’s advanced spread offense system. Sure, it worked for him for a year in the NFL, but the problem is NFL defenses are actually physical. They put an end to that with one hit on Griffin.

Meanwhile, Big 12 defenses are still built like pillows.

And the result is a lot of overhyped offensive talent in the conference.
