Iowa Hawkeyes senior quarterback Jake Rudock is transferring out of the program after losing his starting job and could stick in the Big Ten.
The Iowa Hawkeyes are moving forward without two-year starting quarterback Jake Rudock who is transferring out of the program, according to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, and leaves the job open to C.J. Beathard to run the offense for head coach Kirk Ferentz.

Rudock has one year of eligibility remaining and is eligible to play immediately as a graduate transfer. He threw 16 touchdowns to only five interceptions in 2014 while completing 61.7 percent of his passes for 2,436 yards. He added 176 more yards and three scores on the ground.
For his two-year career as the starter, Rudock threw for 35 touchdowns to 18 interceptions and 4,819 yards.
Rudock lost his starting job to Beathard for the Taxslayer Gator Bowl loss to the Tennessee Volunteers and was listed behind Beathard for the pre-spring depth chart. Beathard was 13-of-23 passing for 145 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran eight times for 82 yards.
Iowa won’t be playing with Rudock, but he may not be going too far either as Feldman reports Rudock is visiting the Michigan Wolverines next week.

Rudock would be the second former starter to transfer to play for Jim Harbaugh if he does indeed transfer to Michigan, which is premature to assume, joining former Houston quarterback John O’Korn.
However, his presence shouldn’t play into Rudock’s decision with Michigan because O’Korn isn’t eligible until 2016 per transfer rules, so if he transfers there he would compete with Shane Morris for the starting job. Morris is one of three quarterbacks sharing reps in the early part of spring practice at Michigan, joining Wilton Speight and Alex Malzone.
Rudock has more experience than all three of those quarterbacks, so he could have a chance to start if he picks up the offense quickly.
