KJ Costello commits to Stanford: Cardinal land 4-star quarterback
The Stanford Cardinal have their quarterback for the 2016 class after KJ Costello committed on Thursday.
KJ Costello (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Santa Margarita Catholic) committed to the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday in an afternoon announcement from his high school as the four-star quarterback picked them over offers from USC and Michigan.

The 6-4, 213-pound signal-caller is the nation’s No. 33 player overall, No. 4 pro-style passer and the No. 4 recruit in the talent-rich state of California, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He completed 229-of-280 passes as a junior for 3,123 yards and 23 touchdowns to 10 interceptions and added 352 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Costello is the second player to commit to Stanford head coach David Shaw for the 2016 class, joining three-star defensive tackle Bo Peek. The Cardinal have the nation’s No. 42 ranked class and the No. 5 ranked class in the Pac-12 after the commitment from Costello and with a talented quarterback on board, look for them to move higher as he recruits for the program.
Quarterbacks commit to colleges early as they are often the centerpieces of recruiting classes and help attract recruits who want to catch passes, block for and play alongside a talent like Costello, so now it will be interesting to see which receivers he’s pitching and trying to join him on The Farm.
