Cardale Jones apologizes for tweeting classes are pointless

Well before Cardale Jones was a household name after helping lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship, he was making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Jones drew attention to himself last fall when he said classes were pointless and he didn’t come to Ohio State to play school, he was there to play football.
Naturally, the tweet put Jones in the spotlight and in the crosshairs of head coach Urban Meyer who didn’t appreciate what his reserve quarterback put out on social media.
More than two and a half years later from the date of the original tweet, Jones apologized for the tweet on the same platform he used to get himself in hot water.
It is clear that Jones has learned a lesson from his tweet and decided to return to Ohio State to go to more classes when he bypassed the 2015 NFL Draft to return to Columbus for the 2015 season, despite no guarantee that he’ll be the team’s starting quarterback.
Jones was the team’s third string quarterback in the fall with Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett ahead of him on the depth chart, but after injuries to Miller and Barrett, Jones led the team to a win in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin, beat Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal and defeated Oregon to win the national championship.
In the process Jones beat all three Heisman finalists and put himself in position to be a Heisman finalist in 2015, if he beats out Miller and Barrett this fall for the job.
