This is the second transfer quarterback for Harbaugh, joining former Houston quarterback John O’Korn who won’t be eligible to play until 2016.
Rudock started the last two years at Iowa before he was benched in favor of C.J. Beathard for the Hawkeyes bowl game against Tennessee and will be eligible to play immediately after the Big Ten granted him a waiver to compete this year and could be the front-runner for the quarterback job because of his experience.
He joins Shane Morris, Wilton Speight and early-enrolee Alex Malzone who are the main challengers to start for the Wolverines. Zach Gentry will join the competition when he enrolls later this summer.
Rudock visited Ann Arbor in March and Michigan was the prohibitive front-runner to land him, especially with Jeff Fisch, Michigan’s passing game coordinator who recruited him when he was at Miami.
He completed 61.7 percent of his passes and threw for 2,436 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. In 2013, Rudock completed 19-of-30 passes for 239 yards and threw for two touchdowns in addition to three interceptions in a 24-21 win vs Michigan.
