The Michigan Wolverines have their quarterback for the 2016 class after four-star recruit Brandon Peters committed to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Michigan received the verbal commitment from 6-5, 205-pound quarterback Brandon Peters (Avon, IN. Avon) on Friday night.

More from Big Ten

He is he No. 272 recruit overall, No. 9 pro-style overall quarterback and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Indiana, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Peters had a stellar 2014 campaign for Avon as he was a key piece of their offense. Throwing for 1,876 yards and 21 touchdowns in addition to running for five on the ground, he showed that he is a man of many talents.

He was recruited by offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch, and for Peters, this concludes what has been a busy past month for him. He was received offers from Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and Arkansas in the first 12 days and named a group of leaders on the 16th with Michigan, LSU, Wisconsin, Indiana and Nebraska making up his top five.

On March 21, he made a trip to South Bend to attend the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Junior Day, his final stop before making his commitment to Harbaugh and Michigan.

The addition of Peters strengthens a 2016 class that is diminutive for the Wolverines at the moment. There is one other four-star prospect in the class (Erik Swenson, Downers Grove, Ill.) and a three-star prospect (Dale Harding, Elkton, Md.)  There is a chance that this Peters commitment may give the 2016 class some additional momentum with elite skill position players wanting to follow Peters to Michigan.

With the commitment of Peters, Michigan has the nation’s No. 35 ranked recruiting class and the No. 5 class in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
