Alabama landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Jonah Williams to give Crimson Tide fans some much-needed good news after a trying week on and off the field.
It has been a rough week for Alabama fans who saw three players arrested, including defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor who was dismissed from the program and later expelled for off-the-field reasons and the men’s basketball team lost out in their pursuit of Gregg Marshall who decided to stay at Wichita State.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Alabama lost reserve running back Bo Scarbrough to a torn ACL at Friday’s scrimmage, so the team was in dire need of some good news and they got it Saturday with the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Jonah Williams (Folsom, CA. Folsom) who became the fifth player to commit to the Tide.
Williams is the nation’s No. 74 overall recruit, No. 9 offensive tackle and the No. 10 recruit in the state of California, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-5, 272-pounder was on campus on March 30 for an unofficial visit and that sealed the deal for him to commit to Alabama less than one month removed from his offer from the Tide on March 9. He picked Alabama over offers from Nebraska, Miami, USC, Auburn and Michigan, among others.
Offensive line coach Mario Cristobal was his primary recruiter and one year removed from assembling arguably the greatest offensive line class of all-time, Williams is the first offensive lineman to commit for the 2016 class.
With his commitment, Alabama moves up to the nation’s No. 18 class overall and the No. 7 class in the SEC, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
