Wallace is the nation’s No. 139 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 19 recruit in the talent-rich state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-3, 228-pound quarterback with 4.4 speed actually knew he was going to play for Ohio State when he took an unofficial visit to Columbus on March 28 but waited until today to go public with his college plans.
He picked Ohio State over offers from TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, UCLA, Indiana, Mississippi State, Louisville, Nebraska and SMU.
His decision to commit to Ohio State was because of the spread offense the team runs that will put to use his ability to make plays with his arm as well as his feet, but the biggest reason was Meyer.
“The biggest reason I chose Ohio State is because of coach Meyer,” Wallace tells Ryan Bartow of 247Sports. “He had a big influence on me and my parents. He truly, genuinely cares about my well-being and my life without football. Ohio State is a winning program. They run the type of offense our high school team runs. That’s what I want to play in. Plus it feels like home there. I see myself there.”
With the commitment of Wallace, Ohio State moves up to the nation’s No. 4 overall class and the No. 1 class in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
