The Illinois Fighting Illini close spring practice on Saturday with the annual spring game and here’s the top five storylines to watch in the game.
The 2014 football season was a rollercoaster ride for the University of Illinois and its football program as they finished their season under .500, at 6-7.

Illinois went 3-5 in Big Ten play during the 2014 season and was forced to beat Northwestern in the last game of the season to become bowl eligible.
Illinois capped off the season by getting drubbed, 35-18 in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. This was head coach Tim Beckman’s first bowl game at Illinois and the Fighting Illini look to build on their postseason appearance in 2015.
In year four, expectations are growing for Tim Beckman and his football team and their fans expect another step forward with junior quarterback Wes Lunt back from injury and another year for this defense to grow.
