5. How Will Texas’ New Offense Look?

The Texas offense was, to put it kindly, anemic in 2014. Speeding up the Horns’ plodding (113th in 2014 total offense) attack is a high priority for head coach Charlie Strong and offensive coordinator Joe Wickline, who are installing new spread and zone read wrinkles.

The idea is to speed up the offense and take advantage of the running ability of whoever emerges at quarterback (both Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard can run). Saturday’s spring game will be a pretty good indicator of how well Texas players are picking up the new offensive philosophy.

If the offense hums, Longhorn Nation will be excited for 2015. If the offense sputters, the coaching staff will have its work cut out for it for the rest of the offseason.
