The Mississippi State Bulldogs provided a lot to be excited about in their spring game Saturday. Here are five things we learned from it.

For the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the 2014 season could be seen as the window of opportunity that they were not able to jump all the way through. After all, they were one of the most experienced, deepest, and talented teams in college football.

But a close loss to Alabama and a season ending loss to Ole Miss ruined everything. They had no motivation to play Georgia Tech.

Anyway, to keep that window open, the Bulldogs at least can say they have their crucial weapon in quarterback Dak Prescott returning. But everything else is up for debate.

Do they have enough around him to repeat last year’s success?

That’s what this spring game was all about. It is extremely important to see how good Prescott could be this year given what he lost, and it is also important to see what could replace the talent that is gone.

The Bulldogs return fewer than 10 starters overall. That made this spring as crucial as ever.

Knowing that, the Maroon and White game did matter. It was a close one, which the White won 28-24. That could lead to excitement about the depth, or it could raise questions about the team overall.

So here are the five things we learned from the Mississippi State Bulldogs spring game Saturday.
