Cities interested in hosting had to have their bids in by the end of the month with the winner being announced later this fall. Minnesota may not immediately come to mind as a destination city for a major sporting event, but with the new stadium opening downtown this year there is a great calling card in their efforts to win the bid.
Minnesota was awarded the 2018 Super Bowl and the 2019 Final Four, so could the 2020 College Football Playoff follow?

Glendale’s University of Phoenix Stadium is the host for the 2016 title game and Tampa Bay gets it the year after that. Joining Minnesota in pursuit of trying to host the national championship game include Arlington, Houston, Indianapolis, New York, New Orleans, Orlando and San Francisco.
I can’t handicap their chances of securing the bid, but I do think the state has put themselves in a favorable position with the other cities who have hosted Super Bowl’s, Final Four’s, conference championship games and other huge events after winning the bid for the Super Bowl and Final Four.
If you could choose any city in the country to host the title game, where would you have it?
I wouldn’t mind seeing the game played outdoors in the elements, but I understand that is fighting an uphill battle.
