Big 12 Football: Top 5 Candidates to win Offensive Player of the Year

Ranking the top five candidates to walk away as the winner of the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year for the 2015 college football season.

The Big 12 was home to the biggest offensive surprise in the nation with quarterback Trevone Boykin leading the TCU Horned Frogs to the nation’s No. 2 scoring offense and the No. 5 total offense.

TCU has been a team known for its defenses under head coach Gary Patterson but with the hiring of co-offensive coordinators Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie, the Horned Frogs had an offense to fear.

Boykin won the first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Award for TCU after leading the conference in yards and touchdowns and he looks to be the first repeat winner since Oklahoma’s Jason White won in 2004.

Last year’s fourth-place finisher in the Heisman also hopes to join White as a Heisman winner. He faces a number of competitors for that Trophy, but the competition isn’t as loaded to repeat as the Big 12 OPOY. One of the top competitors shares the same huddle as Boykin while Baylor and Oklahoma look to bring the award back to their programs.
