The trade deadline is approaching in MLB so let’s think of some hypothetical college football trades that would work and inject some more drama in the sport

There’s no trading in college sports and there’s no free agency where rich clubs can outspend the competition and bring elite talent to town. The only way to improve your roster in college sports is through recruiting, which isn’t a fair process for smaller programs who are looking to compete with the heavyweights in the world.

But what if you could trade a fifth-year senior to a program who is desperate for that player and they’d give you a long-term asset in exchange for 13-14 games from your player?

In a completely hypothetical (crazy) experiment, I operated in a world where trades are allowed and teams could upgrade their roster after missing out on that five-star recruit at signing day or after a devastating injury in spring practice.

I operated under the same thought process that general managers and front offices do at this time of year in baseball where rental players are flipped for young prospects or players are exchanged to give them a fresh start.

In no way is this meant to be a serious article, but I welcome your comments and suggestions for other trades that should take place if such a rule existed. This is meant to be fun, so let’s keep it fun.

Without further ado, here are five trades we wish could happen in college this year.
